'tis the season to be jolly

My view, at 9:03PM today. Look at how bright it is, still!

Well, that's what you get in summer.

And not to mention the hot-and-humid combo. Reminds me of Malaysia, surprisingly... thought I'd never see the day. Except, minus the cheapo foods plus air-conditioner. Sad max.

Drizzle --> shower --> heavy downpour --> drizzle --> no rain
And the cycle repeats for xxx times a day. How to dry clothes like that?

A bit of a wet and gloomy Christmas for us, it was. And to add salt to that, we had to ditch our Christmas lunch plan at Burger King's cos it wasn't open :( NOTHING else (not even the supermarkets) was open. Somehow reminded me of CNY back in Malaysia... Well, lesson learnt, NOTHING opens on Christmas, New Year's and Easter.

Been busy with packing and moving stuff over to our new place. I'm not even online as often anymore. Gasp! Okay, I'll try to reduce my time online when uni starts. Eheh. Not. Ever. Fulstop.

Can't wait to officially move in hoho. Except... for the faulty oven nooooooo. *heart breaks*

And this is what happened in the kitchen couple days ago teehee. Not showing a full cake picture cos the icing was too runny that it messed up the whole plate. Quite disappointed but amused at the same time at how runny the icing was. Chucked it into the fridge and the icing hardened up so *phew*

Alrighty, knocking off. TTFN.

Oh, an obligatory Christmas-y shot. Simple, yet a pretty tree. ;)

18.12.12

Woke up to terrible news today. The man who had been battling with cancer has finally been called back to the Lord late last night.

The first thing I did this morning was to read the last few Whatsapp messages that suggested he was in a critical condition. At that, I thought to myself - Thank God. At least he's still hanging in there.

So I got up from bed, made myself some breakfast and decided to go through the thread of messages (which I regret doing halfway through breakfast), only to discover that I had missed out an important block of info. The part that stated what time he had passed on.

Words alone cannot describe how overwhelmed I was by the devastating news. I re-read the messages to confirm and it all felt as if I was stuck in my own nightmare, with no where else to run to.

I don't know what to say or do. Still dumbstruck, that I am. I feel as if... I have yet to grieve enough. Forever fighting back whatever tears welling up inside of me whenever my family members are around. If I were alone, only God knows how flooded the town would be.

It pains me to know that I wasn't there to say my last goodbye to him. And that his most of his grandkids were nowhere near his deathbed. But I guess what they say is true, that us going back home now wouldn't make much of a difference.

He was a caring man who was forever physically active; always on the go. And I dare say he lived a good life.

Well, at least, I'm glad the pain is all over for you and that you're in better hands. :)

公公, 再见哦.

Halloween

Nope, this post has nothing to do with Halloween. In fact, it has nothing to do with it at all. Did I just say that twice? Whoops.

So much for tryna be a persistent blogger. Made a 3 months' absence. Eheh soz.

Now that we're in the month of October, I can (with a super heavy heart) tick MGM2012 off my checklist. Same goes for all the other EBH in-class assessments; debate and role-play. Which reminds me, another reflective journal and I'll be done with assignments for the rest of the year :)))

But then, there's a catch. Exams.
Argh. I dread the thought of it.
Or should I say 'fear'?

Funny how I'm scared of what might happen but I do nothing much to help myself. *inserts lalala face*
From today onward,  I shall have a new study motto; "I will start from today!". Yeah, doubt that will last. Never had an old one to begin with anyways.

Speaking of exams and uni, was on my way back from work last night. And some crazy nothing-to-do dude whistled at me while his/their car was driving up the hill, within the uni acc grounds. After making a U-turn and making their way down the hill, what did they have to do? Throw an egg at my direction! Well, as much as I'd like to congratulate you on your courage, dearest egg thrower, perhaps, you might wanna erm, polish up on your aiming skills? Like seriously! Annoying end to my night. *calming down*

Well, on a much happier note, Mumford & Sons, here I comeee!

Oh and, daylight savings starts... in 1 hour. Time to catch up on some sleep.

Friday the 13th

Finally back in Hobart after a long day's travel. Had 4 hours of rest the night before. All thanks to my dearest siblings who vow to make me stay awake, depriving me of my much needed sleep.

Was airsick the whole way through to Melbourne from Auckland. And was on the verge of vom-ing, again. Experienced turbulence in all 3 flights today. Probs explains my airsickness.

So much has happened today. Events too embarrassing to spell, but too funny (only when I look back) to not share out. Hmm so let's see.

#1
What I didn't know: For all departures out of Hamilton, a domestic departure fee of $5 applies.
What I did: Went to the boarding gate without the coupon and had to walk to the bookstore to purchase one, when everyone else had one.

Almost everyone who boarded this plane was wearing a coat, had nice shiny working shoes, carried a suitcase and looked professional. I was the only kid there. Ngehehe

#2
When at Melbourne airport.
Lady at the check-in counter:  So where are you headed to?
And I say 'Melbourne' aloud.
Bravo.

So, at this point, I do blame my lack of sleep. It's an exceptional chore when you've to force yourself to stay awake and alert, especially when you're at an airport. Alone.

Ok, so I'll stop at #2. Imma have to give in to physical and mental exhaustion and retire to bed early.
Nights. And hello 2nd sem!

Of Bluberry Muffins

Kia ora. I'm back in NZ. Had that huge yummylicious blueberry muffin 3 breakfasts ago.
Mehhhh it's been rather cold here cos:

1) I'm used to having the heater being turned on back in Tassie and
2) my bro develops heat rashes even IN WINTER, so we're not turning the heaters on.

So here I am, at the library, finding comfort where the heaters are turned on :3 And also tryna reinstill the habit of reading books again. Yes, I'm trying...

Things have changed slightly. Ed's grown a lil' funnier and Jo, a lil' crazier.

Anyways, 2 weeks till I head back to studying again.
4th sem. Wonder how that'll turn out.

Keep Calm

Tomorrow, I'll be living by Kiwi timing. Spent a good time walking round Hobart today though, getting some exercise. Hehh.

And yes, my camera did make my cup look distorted. But hey, I finally got it!
All's well in this world. *__*

Semester 3

And here we are. The end of the 3rd semester. Nearly halfway through my course. I'd like to think that I studied hard enough. Please, one round of Biochem is good enough already. Fingers crossed.

Now that exams are finally over, nothing seems to interest me anymore. Not even, Facebook. Not now, at least. Gasp!

Except maybe, one thing. Been on a Grey's Anatomy run yay. Meredith snores. My eyes will burn soon if I don't get off this computer soon enough. Seriously.

At least my headache's gone. Looking forward to a 3-week-headache-free holiday. ^__^

Flying back in 4 days. Till then, I should really start planning on what I'm gonna do for the next few days.

Brb, doing laundry.

A Case of MIA-ness

Hello :3

And yes, I know. No blog posts for the past several months? Unacceptable!
I guess I'll just go with the 'I've been keeping myself busy with something productive (ie. moving, clubs, studies, etc.)' excuse... HA. And yes, I'm back. A failed blogger, at that.

After having my ups and downs (mostly), I'm finally back in Tassie. Had an awesome yet energy-draining trip down to Kiwiland beginning of the year. Family finally decided on settling in Hamilton, well, at least for the time being. Hmm, Hamilton, Hamilton. Kinda reminds me of Hobart, really. If not, quieter. But boy oh boy do I absolutely love Pak'nSave <3 Don't think the link there did any justice though. But, you'll get the idea.

Anyways, been watching Scrubs and Grey's Anatomy. Finally. How cool is it working at the hospital!

Still can't believe I failed to update this thing. And it's already have a year gone.

Sooo 2012 eh?

The year people change, grow apart, move on.
The year I make someone come into my life, subconsciously.
The year I realise how much tougher of a person I've gotta be to survive in this cruel, cruel world. Ok, it ain't that bad.
The year I turn 2 decades old young.
*throws fireworks*
No, scratch the fireworks.
Dayum I'm old.

Blah

How I hate having awesome moments. Now I'll have so much more to miss when I'm not around. My mind is so messed up at the moment. Hard to think straight and get anything done.

Your words

This feeling inside of me right now, has to be uncapped and flushed down the toilet.

Melbournism

Whaddup? It's already the 2nd week of a new sem. Had to stay in Uni for a whole day yesterday. 9am - 6pm. Hardcore. Never like pracs that end so late in the evening. Arghh!

Really enjoyed my one week trip in Melbourne. Highlight of the trip was Crazy Wings (serves awesomely spicy chicken wings). Hobart's chilly weathers make me miss Melbourne ttm. :(

At Southern Cross Station

Cakes at Breadtop

My favourite:
Cookies-n-Cream-looking Magnetite at the Melbourne Museum

Can't wait for my next trip to Melbourne. Hehehe. Needa save up then. :

July

Another 9 hours before half of 2011's gone. Hitting Melbourne in 2 days!

Bet his head must be aching by now.

Prayers, prayers

Prac's over. Most importantly, exams are too. :) So glad I'll be having at least 2 weeks off school. And now, the much anticipated break! But with the Chilean volcanic ash cloud going on, so many flights have been delayed and cancelled. Hopefully the rain tonight will clear the cloud up and the airports will be back in business by tomorrow.

The King's Speech

"Please, don't do that."
"I'm sorry?"
"I believe sucking smoke into your lungs will kill you."
"My physician said it relaxes the throat."
"They're idiots."
"They've all been knighted."
"Makes it official then."

Can't believe I waited so long before watching this. Both thumbs up!

Exam Day 3

How much more tiring can feeding your brain with info get? Had Chem on Tuesday and am having Bio tomorrow. After that, I'll be 60% done with exams! Can't wait for exams to be over!

Thank God for Sudoku. And the guitar.
